Spirituality — Alternative Beliefs and Knowledge

Spirituality and Knowledge — Alternative Beliefs

Is Knowledge Power?

Why do people say knowledge is power? First of all, what is Power? The ability to outsmart your opponent in competition?  The power of choice to hire the person you want? The strength to hold someone down? Maybe. Are their good forms and more negative or useless forms of power that people exercise, but that prove fruitless in gaining anything of value? It’s important to understand the alternative beliefs of life.

SpiritualityKnowledge is an understanding of how things work among people and within your mind, which helps you determine who you are, who you want to be, where you fit in, and where you’d rather fit in, in life. Why close your mind to other ways of thinking? You don’t have to agree, but why not at least find out what thoughts are “out there” that you haven’t thunk yet? For example, if Knowledge is Power, then does it suffice to say the reverse, that Power is also Knowledge?

Here are some picks to help you move forward in this endeavor.

Power is not necessarily Knowledge

SpiritualityOne thing for sure, is that power does not always equal Knowledge. The kind of Power to which I am referring is that power that tricks others into thinking or doing something that is wrong. But what is considered wrong? Is that determined by social constraints, the Bible, what your friends say? Is it conditional or absolute? Does it matter. Is it both? One thing is for sure, the more we think we know, the more we soon realize we don’t know. How do we know what we know to be true is actually real and true?

These days knowledge seems to be based on scientific evidence, which surely is useful, no doubt. But are there other kinds of knowledge? Buddhists think that what seems good could actually result in something not so good or even a bad situation; Conversely, they believe that what seems bad or undesired at first, can lead to something that is actually good. Thought processes go on and on, at least learn something about your self so that you can relate to others in a deeper more meaningful way, and thereby have deeper relationships with others and possibly a more meaningful life.
